Introduction of Syndication Feed
If you are in ten year ago and want to read a newest article on Microsoft forum, how would you do? Click the hyperlink in your favorite folder and check if the articles which you've read or not? Well, it seems not be wise in today's experience.
The idea of syndication feed based on XML (stands for Extensible Markup Language), a standard format for data delivery between business company. For public application, a website server could integrate its information into a simple xml file, usually call a feed. We then put the feed link on other third-party feed readers, so that we could read those information in our way and desired interface and even choosing which item we would like to read.
There're already bunches of feed reader. No matter high-efficient, embedded-in-microsoft, friendly interface or internet-oriented, you have to have a try at this stuff. If you use the modern tool efficiently, you'll become a knowledge collector.
A problem comes across now. How can we find a feed in a website? That is pretty easy, however. If we don't have an automatic feed sensor, we could simply keep watch for a starndard feed icon which show below. Copy the link and add in your feed reader.
I've tried FeedReader, RssReader, Google Reader, MS Outlook Reader and whatever you probably haven't heard about yet. I prefer Google Reader because of its nice efficient performance and simple interface without advertisement. Here show you a snapshot.
