No Computer Here!

You know what!? There's no computer I could use here! Life without computer is tough for a student studying computer engineering. As you guess, I might not update my blog until I go back to Taipei, so just wish me good luck.

Chany's Legend

Even though it's my summer break, the number of my posts doesn't grow apparently. Dad may think I would play computer games all days, but, actually, my brother has gone to work (intern), I play with nobody. Playing computer game alone is terribly boring.

Fortunately, except stay in front of PC screen, I still have something interesting to do. I went to Chany and study our school project. Whenever I was free, I would meet him at his dormitory.

Chany Luo

Chany Luo

Chany lived in south of Taiwan. His Dad worked hard for his yearly tution. When graduated from junior high school (different system from the U.S.), he decided to enter a vocational school, which is considered much inferior to those famous high schools. By his efforts, he changed the literal concept. He graduated from senior high school with a great grade and was enrolled by current university. He is also applied for a chance to get his computer master's degree earlier. Chany is really an active student. Hope I can be one of his long-term friends.

The Transformers

Transformer: International poster

Originated from Wikipedia

There is an episode happened in cinema. Everytime a new robot appeared, children will ask their parrents,
"It is the good robot, isn't it?"
"Yes, it is. Thery're trying to destroy the Cube"

What!? Are there only two kind of people in the world? What if Optimus Prime is the one doing wrong? Or, in other hand, how could we know which side is really good for the Universe? Whatever, Megatron killed and threaten humans. On the short-term aspect, helping the other side is good to us.

The real bad guys in our world are not so obvious. They always claim that they are on the side of justice, fair and peace, and call the mass to join them. But after they've got what they want, they'll be too greed to share the victory.

Old Friends at Keelung

Last Saturday, I went Keelung and go downtown with old friends. Unfortunately, I forgot to take my camera, so I didn't take any picture back!

Ting-chung is on the wa to be a high school teacher. But I don't think she is suitable for being a teacher, a secretary might be great. In contrast, Darren is still optimistic and impish.

We watched the movie, The Transformers, suggested by Darren. I rank it 4/5 on story, 5/5 on scene and 2/5 on moral. Whatever, it's a nice action movie to watch on summer break. I'll post my thought on next section.

Mason's Blog Updated

It was definitely a big work! Since the last time I updated the theme style of my blog, I always wanted to refine it again. There were few syntax errors in Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and Blogger's template, annoying my blog viewers. The book "CSS, HTML/XHTML" did a lot of help to provide me a quick syntax refering and makes me get rid of rush search on W3C School.

In the parts I can modify, all the HTML syntax follows the newest W3C standard - XHTML 1.0 and CSS2. I think I already know much enough to make a bigger website project including dababase and AJAX. On the next step, I'm going to study .NET Framework. However, I got an introductory course in school, so I think it'll be somewhat familiar to me.

In addition, I've added some gadgets. You can see them obviously on the right side: a search bar by the title, a music zone with couple tracks and my Skype state icon at the bottom of my profile. If you've installed Skype and I'm online, clicking that icon will call me directly. I would like to know new friends. (Sorry that I might speak broken English, but fluent and clear Chinese.

There are also features on progress:

  1. Syndication Feed
  2. Guest Book
  3. Visit Statistics
  4. Background Image

Collide in Taiwaneses' Way

Taiwaneses have a bad manner - they are usually blind drivers. Remember the last accident happened on me? It almost killed me, a bike rider rode very slowly on sidewalk!

Although I haven't had a driving licence yet, I'm confident of my driving principles:

  • Watch the back
When switch a lane on driving, must take care of others behind. You never know the consquence of any negligence. Use your mirrors often.
  • Concentrate
Don't answer any phone on driving. Even though it's from the president of the United States, I believe he or she will be happy if you stop to speak.
  • Economize
Whenever possible, walk or bicycle instead of consume oil. It's about saving money and improving environment

Overview of traffic accident In Taiwan, walking is safer

Originated from Cartalex.com

Traffic in Taiwan (Taipei City at least) is violent. Do you know? In Taiwan, it's safer to be a passenger of cars or airplanes than walk outside... Give a sincere advice to everyone wants to come to or live in Taiwan - Never go out!

Is That Taiwan?

This guy took lots of beautiful photos of scenes of Taiwan. I strongly suspect he tricks up those pictures by photo editor, because it's hard to image that that's so different between the scene and where I live. It is ABSOLUTELY NOT that Taiwan I know! (Tearing hair)

Baseball

Chien-Ming Wang becomes famous these years. Every Yankee's game pitched by Wang attracted many Taiwaneses. They even woke up at midnight to watch the live show of Wang. I'm also curious and interested on the popular sport. I asked cousin Daow to go play baseball. He is a big baseball fan.

On the first day, we went to the baseball practice field.

There are many entries side by side there. Each has a different speed for playing and side of batter's box.

The baseball bats are really heavy. Because I insisted on holding the bottom of bats, I was tired out. My hands trembled and can't raise up facilely after playing seventy balls.

On the second day, Daow rode me an open space which is really nice for baseball practice.

HTML Designing

HTML design is more popular now. I want to get a part-time job. After around hours searching, I found most of jobs for college students require basic HTML disigning ability. I thought, it's okay, I ever made some web pages, modified my blog template and studied HTML syntax. What is the difficulty?

Few minutes ago, I googled and saw lots blogger templates made by those "experts". You know what, they're fantastic! I can't even tell how a feature like transparent sidebar is made. I shall really read hard the book "Deluxe Web Designer's Handbook" borrowed from school library.
